ManixMe Box Review

So it came to my attention that Maniology had released a monthly stamping plate subscription box. So, obviously, I had to have it.

Their box is $25 with free shipping and boasts a $60 value (more on that later). Each box comes with two stamping plates, two stamping polishes, a "surprise gift," and your first box comes with a stamper and scraper set.

The October box was, unsurprisingly, Halloween styled. The plates were rather cute with a "kawaii halloween" style. Lots of little tiny critters, bats, some brains, bones, full nail designs, small detail designs, etc.

The images are nice and deeply etched, so they transfer pretty well. On the downside, a lit of the images have really thin lines so you have to work super fast to keep the polish from drying.

The two colors I received were called Boys Tears and Corpse Flower and were a periwinkle color and a nice fuscia-pink respectively. They aren't really "Halloween" colors, but fit the "cute" aesthetic they were going for quite well.

The polish consistency was pretty good. It didn't have too strong of an odor but was a little too fast drying (I tried this polish on some of my other plates and it dried fast with those as well, so work fast!). The colors showed up great on white but, as usual with stamping polishes, became a bit muted over black.

The extra gift were some cute mini tattoos for your fingers in matching designs, two little pineapple gummies, and a small sheet of some stickers that didn't really match anything and were more of a Maniology Brand item. It all came well packaged in a little teal box with tissue paper, a cardboard tube for the scraper/stamper, and a box for the polishes.

My only real complaint is that I have no idea where they're getting this estimate of $60 value from. The plates are $6.50 each, the tattoos should be between $4-$7, the stamping polishes $6, and the stamper and scraper $9 max. Shipping was free, but they have free shipping over a certain dollar amount anyway, so shipping would have been free regardless. Even if you count the cost of shipping materials the entire box would only be maybe $45, tops.

Also note that you only get the stamper and scraper with the first box, so the following boxes will have an even lower value. That isn't to say this box wasn't worth it. At $25 (or $20 with a coupon, which you can usually find somewhere) the box IS worth the amount you pay for it.

The main draw, however, is actually the fact that the plates contained in the box are ManixMe subscription box exclusives and can't be bought otherwise. There's also extra points for their rewards program with subscription membership, if reward programs are your thing. So if you're looking for a cute, exclusive stamping set, this may be a box for you, even with the inflated value estimate.

You can get the subscription box and other great items Here and also get a $5 off coupon.

Stay glamorous!~
